Pattern Information
Chon-Ji Meaning | Means literally “the Heaven the Earth”. It is, in the Orient, interpreted as the creation of the world or the beginning of human history, therefore, it is the initial pattern played by the beginner. This pattern consists of two similar parts; one to represent the Heaven and the other the Earth.
Children Under 10: Heaven and Earth, it is the pattern practiced by the beginner.

There are 24 patterns – one for each hour of the day, or representing a completed life.

The yellow belt represents the golden earth into which the seed of TaeKwon-Do has been planted.

The 5 Tenets are:

How long and wide is the walking stance? What is the weight distribution?
The walking stance is one shoulder width wide, measured from middle toe to middle toe, and one and one half shoulder widths long, measured from big toe to big toe. The weight is distributed 50% on each foot, or 50/50.
Which leg is bent in the walking stance and which leg is locked?
The front leg is bent in a walking stance and the back leg is locked.
How are the feet angled in a walking stance?
The front foot is straight, and the back foot is 25 degrees outward.
How wide and long is an L Stance? What is the weight distribution?
The L Stance is 1 inch wide, measured from heel to heel, and is one and one half shoulder widths measured from the foot sword in the back and the big toe in the front. The weight distribution is 70% back leg, 30% front leg, or 70/30.

Both feet are angled 15 degrees inward in an L Stance.
